THINK BEFORE YOU MOVE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
OPEN TO CLARKE COUNTY SENIORS
Every year, the Think Before You Move Scholarship recognizes four outstanding high school students in the Athens-Clarke County area. A $1000 scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional persuasive writing skills, while meeting academic and community service requirements. Each year, winners present their winning essay at the conference. The Think Before You Move Scholarship encourages writing and public speaking while challenging youth to explore important topics such as education reform and community awareness.
Over the last 13 years Chess and Community has given out 48 scholarships totaling $48,000.

Clarke County High School Seniors will explore how young minds can collaboratively solve major global issues using innovative technologies across cultures and borders.
ScHOLARLSHIP ESSAY PROMPT
In an age of global challenges, how can innovative technologies be used by young minds to solve a significant international issue? (i.e. War, Hunger, Poverty) Propose a solution that emphasizes cross-border youth collaboration, using emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, or biotechnology. Discuss the impact your solution would have on global communities and how it promotes unity among youths from different cultures. Be creative and consider the future implications of your proposed innovation. In 1,600 words or less (1000 words minimum)
